A58 Photoelectric Rotary Encoder FAQ

What is the A58 Photoelectric Rotary Encoder used for?
The A58 Photoelectric Rotary Encoder is used to establish an informational link between key machine components, industrial robots, comparators, and DCC, NC, or Digital Readout Units. It provides information about the value and direction of motion and is utilized in automatic control, on-line gauging, and process monitoring systems. Applications include robotics, elevators, cranes, solar systems, wind systems, packaging, medical equipment, retrofitting, factory automation, milling/boring/CNC machines, automotive industry, and maintenance.
What signal outputs are available for the A58 Encoder?
The A58 Encoder is available with sinusoidal signals and square wave signals (HTL TTL). Additionally, an absolute version (AK58) is also available.
What are the pulse per revolution (PPR) options for the A58 Encoder?
The A58 Encoder offers resolutions ranging from 100 to 10,800 pulses per revolution (PPR).
What are the mechanical specifications of the A58 Encoder?
The A58 Encoder has a body diameter of 58 mm and offers shaft diameters of 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 mm. It can achieve a maximum shaft speed of 10,000 RPM and has an IP64 protection rating. The starting torque at 20°C is less than 0.025 Nm, and the rotor moment of inertia is less than 1.5x10-4 kgm². The encoder's weight without cable is approximately 0.35 kg.
What are the electrical specifications of the A58 Encoder?
The A58 Encoder operates with a supply voltage of +5 V ±5% or +(10 to 30) V, depending on the version. The maximum supply current without load is 80 to 120 mA. It utilizes an LED light source and offers different output signals: 11 µApp, 1 Vpp, TTL, or HTL. The maximum operating frequency is greater than 160 kHz, and the standard cable length is 1 meter, extendable up to 25 meters.
What environmental conditions can the A58 Encoder operate under?
The A58 Encoder operates within a temperature range of 0 to +70°C and can be stored in temperatures ranging from -30 to +80°C. It can withstand relative humidity up to 98% without condensing, vibrations up to 100 m/s² (from 55 to 2000 Hz), and shocks up to 300 m/s² (for 11 ms).
